City crews have begun curb replacement on 2nd Avenue from Oak Street to Maple Street. Concrete crews will be coming in to assist with completing this project. Please exercise caution in this area, or use alternative routes.
The gas leak has been stopped. The crews will be working on repairing the gas line., The alley between 3rd and 4th Avenues will be blocked off just east of the post office to Patriots Bank until repairs are completed. Thank you for your continued patience while repairs are being made.
There is a reported gas leak in the alley between 3rd and 4th Avenues off of Oak Street between the Post Office and Donna Harris Park. Crews are working to find and repair the leak. We appreciate your patience while work is being done.

TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded a stream advisory for the City of Garnett’s stormwater drainage system extending to the confluence of Lake Garnett (North Lake) that was issued on Jan 2, 2026.
The stream advisory was a result of the release of an unknown substance onto the roadways of Maple Street and Park Road in Garnett, Kansas.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sampling of the material indicates that the substance is no longer harmful. For more information on the incident, please visit response.epa.gov.
